Jimbo On The Loose

I wrote a year ago about James (Jimbo) Patterson and his crooked schemes. Among other things, one of his scams was a company called New Leaf Associates. In this scam, Jimbo promised to erase your debt and clear your credit record for a fee of $4,000 to $6,000. As you might guess, this was bupkus and New Leaf Asociates was shut down by the Florida Attorney General.

So imagine my surprise when I got an email from Jimbo with his latest offer. Jimbo is claiming to sell a Coastal Vacations level 3 package, which lists for $7500, for only $4000. This offer, of course, is only available through Jimbo. It appears that Jimbo wants me to send him the four grand and he will get me the package. I don't know if this is a legitimate offering from Coastal Vacations or not, but I gotta tell you, Jombo is a crook and I wouldn't touch that offer if my life depended on it.

So here is the moral to this story - it helps to have a long memory and be wary of emails from James "Jimbo" Patterson

SFI Bronze Team Leader

I am now a Bronze Team Leader (BTL) with SFI! This requires 2 personally sponsored Executive Affiliates (EA) and 10 Sales Volume Points (SVP). I had three of my affiliates upgrade in December which allowed me to meet the requirements. This is pretty exciting since I have been working this for some time. I think I have determined some steps to use to motivate my affiliates to become EA.

On top of that, my sponsor, Hannes Johnson, became a Silver Team Leader (STL) when I made BTL. STL requires two personally sponsored BTLs, 10 EAs and 15 SVP. I was the second BTL and made Hannes quite happy.

So now my goal is to continue to recruit new affiliates and to also help my EAs advance to BTL.

New Content Provider

I signed up for InfoGoRound, a new provider of web content. They have thousands of private label articles that I can use to add content to my site. I can put my own resource box on them but for the moment I have not decided on how to do this. Since I have multiple sites I'm not sure if I want to mention all of them or just selected ones depending on the site I'm posting the article to. I am hoping this additional, and frequent, addition to my sites should help my page ranking.

Getting Results

It has been a couple of months since my last post. I have been quite busy working on my site. On of the top internet marketers, Erich Winnecke, has been mentoring several folks that have Plug-In Profit Sites. (You can get yours here.)

I also got a copy of SEO Made Easy and have been working through the steps outlined there. As of today this site is ranked #8 out of 516,000 on Google for the keyword "workathome". I still have more work to do and I have launched a new site Ways To Make Money.

I'll post more on my activities later.

Initial Results with Visitor Finder

I posted a few weeks ago that I was going to try a service that was recommended to me by Erich Winnecke called Visitor Finder. I purchased 10,000 bulk untargeted 24 hour unique traffic. This is full page popunder traffic with no returning visits within a 24 hour period. This cost me $17.95.

Now granted, untargeted bulk traffic for a home business site is not exactly the best but I figured it would give me an idea of thier service.

They delivered the 10,000 visits within about 19 days. They provided a tracking site to indicate how many visits were delivered and how many were left. I am fairly confident that the really delivered because I have a couple of different tracking sites.

So what was the result? I made about $25.00 in Google Adsense profit and got a couple of sign ups for my newsletter. Not very earth shattering but it made me decide to try their "Ultimate Traffic" package. 10,000 language, category and country targeted, 24 hour unique visits for $74.95. I have targeted the U.S., English, Business and Finance category. They estimate that it will again take about 19 days to deliver the traffic.

I also have tried another traffic site, My Traffic Butler. They have a package that is supposed to be 10,000 visits to category targeted 404 traffic. 404 traffic is sites in each category that are no longer online. My Traffic Butler purchases those domains and then redirects any hits to them to businesses that purchase visits from them. So far I don't see much business but their traffic is delivered more slowly. I started that campaign on September 19th and as of this morning they have delivered 2,005 visits.

I will post again on the outcome of these campaigns.

Issues With RM4

As part of the Plug-In Profit Site I received a free copy of Reciprocal Manager. This is software for managing link exchanges with other web sites. It was relatively easy to learn and I currently have about 170 links. There were a few minor bugs but nothing I couldn't deal with.

Kevin Ocaiso, the creator of RM which is currently at version 3.3, was working on a major upgrade. He had several new features he wanted to add and felt that the best course of action was to hire programmers to build version 4. This was a complete rewrite.

Unfortunately, RM4 has turned out poorly. There have been some major issues which have resulted in Kevin giving up on this upgrade. I was trying to upgrade my own links into RM4 and, following their advice, tried out a test upgrade. I was never able to import the links from the prior version. I submitted a support ticket but it has been several days and no resolution. Kevin stated that he hired the same programmers to handle technical support also and that hasn't worked out very well either.

So today Kevin sent out a message that he was scrapping RM4 and going back to RM3. He has fired the programmers and will attempt to fix the known issues with RM3 while still planning on a new upgrade.

Kevin has provided previous upgrades at no charge for current users and offered the same with RM4. He has taken full responsibility for the current dilema and I admire him for his openness and willingness to do the right thing. I sincerely wish him the best of luck and I will continue to use RM.

Free Viral Won't Make It To 1 Million

A couple of weeks ago I signed up for a new traffic service called Free Viral. The theory behind it is that when someone signs up under me they have to view 6 web pages, the first being mine. For each subsequent referral my web page moves down the matrix. In order to get this going I set up an AdWords campaign. I now have 25 people signed up on my first level. So far so good.

Now comes the part I have no control over. Those 25 people need to get people signed up under them. If those each of those 25 people signed up 25 people that would get me 650 page views (25 X 25 = 625 plus the original 25). If that continued through 4 levels that would be over 400,000 page views. The problem here is that I do not have access to email addresses or web sites of the people that signed up under me. The owner of the Free Viral site does and he sends out emails periodically. But I cannot encourage them personally.

This lack of my ability to contact them bothers me somewhat. I am essentially helping Free Viral build their list but not helping mine. On the other hand, there is the potential for substantial traffic. So I guess I have to take the good with the bad. Traffic Swarm has the same issue. I can see the first names of the people in my downline but not their contact info.

All in all this is progressing. I don't think I will get 1M views this month but I will keep on promoting and see where it goes.

Source For New HTML Code

I wanted to add a "Bookmark This Page" link on my site. One of the necessities is to have your visitors come back. Without a bookmark they will have to recreate the search they used to find my site in the first place. And the search engines are continuously revising result positions. So this has been a priority for me.

I tried adding code that I found on one of my favorite forums but I kept getting a runtime error. I am not a java programer and the help on Frontpage was not helping me.

So I did a search on Google specifically for "bookmark this site HTML code" and got over 10 million sites returned. I tried several I found on the first page of the results but they all gave me the same error message. I was wondering if there was some code I was missing in the head of the page to allow javascript.

Then I tried a site called HTML Basix. Among other things they have a code generatorthat creates code for several different needs. I went to the bookmark generator and put in my details. I then copied the code that was generated into my page and...

It worked perfectly. I am going to compare it to the others I tried to see where the differences are but I am happy with the outcome.

So here is a free plug for HTML Basix. I will certainly check there again if I have a code need.

New AdWords Tactic

One of the things I enjoy about my online business is the continuous learning. I have had AdWords campaigns running for several months and recently started some new ones.

I was checking results for one of my keywords and saw a result from one of my mentors. It was a little different because it had my location, city, listed under the URL. I thought to myself that if I was searching for this keyword and saw a listing with my city I would be more likely to click on it.

This made me search for the way he set up the ad with the city listed. Many of you probably already knew this, but when seting up a new campaign there is the option to target specific regions or citys. By selecting these the resulting ad only displays in regions on your list, but the ad includes the region or city name. There is a limit on 100 citys for any campaign, but since there is no limit on the number of campaigns it is possible to set up multiple campaigns to reach all of the citys on the list.

So, always learn something new, apply it and test the results. I will provide info on my results in a future post.

Another Source of Traffic

Obviously, the key to making money online is by getting a steady stream of traffic to your website. If you want your home business to survive this is critical. There are many ways to do this including using traffic generators where you get views of your site based on your viewing other sites. This includes sites like Traffic Swarm, TS25, Traffic G, etc. This is time consuming and not really productive.

You can use autosurf traffic generators, where you turn it on, let it display a different site every 10-15 seconds and rack up the credits. But this is even less productive because everyone else is doing the same thing and no one is watching them. I think the only reason these exist is for the autosurf owner to try to get people to upgrade (pay) for the service. Since no one is watching I'm not sure what the benefit is.

Another tactic is to write and submit articles. This has a couple of benefits. First, your article may get published on several or even hundreds of sites. If you have included a signature or resource box with a link to your website, then anyone reading your article on any of those sites has easy access to your website. Second, the link from you resource box on all of those sites provides you with a large number of inbound links which improves your page ranking, which in turn improves your search engine positioning. This is a practice that I engage in.

Purchasing pay per click (PPC) advertising is another method. There are many places that this type of advertising can be placed, the most well know is Google AdWords. One drawback is that getting your ad placed high enough to be seen can be expensive for the more popular keywords. I have written previous posts about my experience with AdWords. I currently have a couple AdWords campaigns going.

An option that I have not tried before, but will start soon, is to purchase traffic. This can be done in various ways - guaranteed visitors, banner impressions & email clicks are all examples. Erich Winecke recently recommended Visitor Finder to me. This appears to be quite cost effective ranging from 10,000 bulk untargeted visitors for $17.95 to 10,000 country, category and language targeted visitors for $79.95. If your site is optimized so that the visitor sees right off the theme of the site there is a better chance that they will look around for awhile and sign up for an opportunity.

Jimbo Has Been Shut Down

I was curious as to the current state of affairs related to James "Jimbo" Patterson. If you read any of my earlier posts you remember that Jimbo is the owner of New Leaf Associates, LLC, a firm that claims it can erase your debt and improve your credit score. They offered to do this for a fee of $4,000 to $6,000.

As you might have guessed, this was a scam. I did a search on Google and found a couple of recent articles. In one article Jimbo says that he has stopped taking new clients. He also stated the he will pay back the clients and eliminate their debt. It is estimated that he collected $8,000,000 dollars from people that were desperate to get out of debt. When asked if he still has the $8,000,000 he said:

"I don't have that all in my possession. We've got mechanisms in place to take care of it."

I don't know what mechanisms ol' Jimbo has in place now but one he used early in the year was offering "guaranteed" signups to PIPS. For $300 he would give you 10 signups for which you would receive the fast start bunuses, etc. It would have been a great deal since you immediately got your money back from those programs.

Unfortunately for the people that ordered these signups Jimbo never delivered. Seems one scam was not enough!

And now the Florida Attorney General has slapped Jimbo with an injunction to cease offering debt elimination services and to take down his web sites.

New Adwords Campaign

I have written quite a bit about the success I have had with my AdWords campaign to sign up Traffic Swarm members. I have over 200 members on my Traffic Swarm team.

I was recently introduced to another program that has great promise. It guarantees to generate 1,000,000 visitors to my website in the next month. Based on how it is structure I can see how a large number of visitors can be generated. But like anything else there is a catch.

That catch is that I have to sign up some members of this downline for it to take off. The way it works is that in order for someone to sign up from my splash page they have to view my web page and five others. Mine is in the first position on the matrix. When the person on my first level signs up a new member, that person must view six pages, mine being in the second position. And so on. This is pure viral marketing.

So in order to kick start my Free Viral downline I have started a new AdWords campaign aimed at the same audience that would be interested in Traffic Swarm.

Based on my prior experience I am hopefull that this new campaign will get me to that 1,000,000 visitors.

Update 30 Days To Success

JMFM Has Rolled!

I joined Ron Walsh's Join My Free Matrix (JMFM)some months ago. This was purely a downline building site that was free with the intention to eventually bring everyone into a money making program that would cost less than $20/month. Ron announced a few weeks ago that he had decided to take us into Better Universe.

Better Universe offers thousands of books, CD's, DVD's and games, as well as discounts on health, dental, prescriptions and vision care, travel services, magazines and many other benefits. They are adding new product lines all the time. On top of this they hold a weekly Life Mastery call to help people build their businesses. There are several membership levels, with the least expensive being $20/month.

On top of this, 10% of Better Universe profits go to World Vision to help feed and clothe needy children around the world.

The income generating side of Better Universe is very good. Here is the text of an email from Michael Cobb, my sponsor in JMFM and Better Universe, detailing the Better Universe "Progressive Income Engine":

1. Fast-Cash: $7-$100 "Fast-Start" bonus paid
whenever a personally referred member upgrades
for the first time. Actual amount depends on YOUR
membership level, and the membership level of
the person upgrading.

2. Monthly Direct Commission: $7 -$50 monthly
recurring commissions on each of your personally
referred members.

3. $20 Star Bonus: You earn $20 per month for
every set of 3 personally referred. This is

So let`s add it up so far with the example of 30
personally referred.

- your monthly $7-$50 per member, let`s say for
simplicities sake you are a "basic" member and so
are all your 30 personally referred so your monthly
is $7 on all of them. 30 x $7 equals:

$210 in monthly direct commissions.

- PLUS you would earn your 10 Star bonuses x $20
equals:

+ $200 in Star Bonuses.

- PLUS 3 Super Star shares (approx $100 ea)
equals:

+ $300 in Super Star Bonuses.

PLUS you would likely qualify for even more Super
Star shares via the other two methods of earning
them. Understand you earn them in ALL 3 ways, not
just one or the other. Lets say you qualify for
2 more Super Stars via the other two methods.

+ $200.

Running total SO FAR $910.

5. The Monthly matrix commission. This is what I
think has a lot of people confused. They look at
the matrix commissions only and think that this
isn`t a very profitable opportunity, but they
haven`t taken into account the other 4 ways you
get paid. The matrix is 3 x 10, the amount you
earn per position in your matrix depends on your
own membership level, but even a "basic" member
can earn $22,143.50 PER MONTH on a full matrix.

This is ON TOP of all your other commissions.

However, we all know that matrixes take a LONG
time to completely fill - a full 3x10 matrix
contains 88,572 members! But the potential is there
and as I said it is ON TOP of your fast-start, star,
and super-star commissions.

For the sake of this example let`s say that in
addition to your 30 personals, there are another
51 people in your commission matrix giving you
a "neat" 4 level matrix of 81 people, and AGAIN
lets say everyone is at the lowest level of
"Basic" membership.

Matrix commissions equals:

+ $20.25

Twenty bucks!? How is anyone suppose to make a
living with only $20 for 81 members in your
matrix?!

BUT YOU FORGOT the other $910!!

Total $930.25 -

But wait! That didn`t even include any Fast-start
bonuses for NEW accounts that month!

I think a lot of people (myself included until
I looked a bit harder) have gone into the
backoffice, looked at their potential matrix
earnings, and thought that it wasn`t very
profitable - I don`t blame you. If that were
ALL you were earning it WOULDN`T be very
profitable. But when added with all your other
commissions, this is a VERY profitable
opportunity indeed.

And remember that the matrix commission, which
is "only" 20 bucks here, is worth $22,143.50
on a FULL matrix for a Basic member,
$44,287 for a Bronze, $88,574 for a Silver,
and $177,148 for a Gold member.

PER MONTH!

And this is just the "small" matrix commissions
ON TOP of all your other bonuses.

200 Affiliates

I posted here on May 24th that I had reached 100 affiliates in Traffic Swarm. This has been mostly due to the Google AdWords campaigns I have run.

The AdWords campaign has been working well for the last 10 days. I have had a 3.24% CTR, $0.158 CPC and have run a $2.36 efficiency in Traffic Swarm. That means every dollar I spent in the last 10 days on my AdWords campaign was worth $2.36 in Traffic Swarm credits. And this does not count the additional credits earned when my downline clicks on their start page or clicks on any of the links in their start page. I have received over 20,000 referral credits with a value of over $200.00!

Dada Mail

I posted a month ago that I was signing up for Submit Your Article. This was due to my re-emphasis on submitting articles as a main part of my marketing plan. I think that SYA is generally a good service but I had problems. I received failure notices from several of the article announcement lists. I sent an email to SYA but the response only said to make sure that I was signed up on the announcement lists with the correct email. All of them were set up with the same address so why some worked and others didn't I never found out.

So I decided that I would distribute the articles myself. Based on a reply to Stone's marketing journal I looked for a free mailing list program I could install on my hosting account. After some research I found Dada Mail by Justin Simoni. Dada Mail is a cgi script that runs on most hosting accounts that run cgi. It is quite powerful. It allows creation of multiple lists with opt-in, double opt-in and opt out.

I have now distributed three articles using Dada Mail without a problem. Needless to say I cancelled my SYA subscription. I can use the $37 a month elsewhere. I have also started to use Dada Mail to send messages to my affiliate downlines. It works great for that too. You can ceate opt-in and opt-out messages for both text & HTML.

Jimbo In The News

Do you remember James "Jimbo" Patterson, the scam artist that offered guaranteed signups for a price, collected the money, and then dissapeared? Well, it appears that he is in the news again. Jimbo and his cronies from New Leaf Associates have now been charged with violating Florida's Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act. Thier main scam was so called "debt termination". They claimed that for a fee they would eliminate your debt and fix your credit scores. Jimbo and his buddies bilked 2,200 people out of more than $8,000,000. AdWords Update

It has been a little over a month since my last update. I have to say I'm quite pleased with the results I am getting. Here is what has happened since May 20th:

I have signed up 75 new affiliates and have 24 new activated affiliates on 395 clicks. Based on the 12,791 impressions that is a click through rate (CTR) of 3.09%. And for the last week I am running 3.7%! 75 affiliates means I have a 19% signup rate and 24 new activated means that 32% of those that sign up are activating or in terms of clicks, 6.1% of everyone that clicks on my ad activates their account on Traffic Swarm.

My cost per click (CPC) is running just over 18¢. For the 24 new affiliates I have received 6000 credits. Based on the Traffic Swarm cost to purchase credits I have a $ efficiency of $1.67 meaning I am getting $1.67 worth of value for every $1.00 I spend on AdWords. Additionally, as a Pro Member I receive 1 credit every time one of my referrals opens their Traffic Swarm start page and one credit anytime anyone on my first line clicks on a link on their start page. This has given me an additional 14,521 credits which is worth almost $300.

So I have to say that this has been a great success in my online marketing. I highly recommend to any one wanting to market online that they look into using AdWords and to get Perry Marshall's ebook to show them how to get the most out of their campaign.

Submit Your Article

I subscribed to submityourarticle.com today. I don't really like signing up for subscriptions because I see it as a perpetual cost. But I decided that in this case there really was value. For $37 a month I can submit four articles automatically to a fifteen article announcement lists and over ten thousand publishers.

Now if I am going to add up the number of hours I spend submitting articles to the two dozen sites I have used and what that time is worth versus the $9.25 it will cost per article it is a no brainer.

The other positive here is that since I am signed up for 4 a month it will motivate me to get out four a month. And motivation is something you need when you work on your own.

I have read elsewhere about using submityourarticle but had never looked into it. But I was reading Stone's journal posts and see that it is one of the first things that he did. So I copied him. Which is the purpose of the journal. If we all follow Stone's steps and become successful by default he becomes even more successful. But I am willing to let him have that if it gets me to where I can make a full time income from home.

By the way, I was just checking Stone's journal and has he been busy today. He created a new splash page for us. I looks great. This is the kind of support we are getting. If you are looking for a real work at home business opportunity you owe it to yourself to ckeck the Plug-In Profit Site out.

Writng Does Not Have To Be Difficult

In the ebook 30 Days To Success, Stone Evans writes about the importance of writing articles. l had written three articles in my first month online but had not done any since. That was until Stone started his online journal at the Internet Warrior's Forum on what steps he was taking to become his own top affiliate. One of the first steps he took was to write an article and submit it to as many sites as he could. His plan is to submit an article a week. This inspired me so I am attempting to do the same. I am preparing my second article that I am posting to my new article page.

It is important not only to write articles and publish them on my own site but to submit them to article directories. With the resource box that provides a link back to my site I will increase the number of incoming links and improve the amount of traffic I get.

Writing articles, or blog posts for that matter, does not have to be difficult. The topics jump out all day long. The key is to recognize when one of them does. For example, this post. I was working on my fifth article when I realized that I was writing it as a result of Stone's journal and how much it can impact my home based business. If it was that important to the marketing of my business then it is probably important for others as well. And hence, the subject of this post.

I would suggest that you give it a try. When you have an activity that is aimed at building your home based business in some way take a moment to jot down some details if not an entire article. It will be amazing how easy it comes. And don't worry about how good it is. Not everyone can be a Steinbeck, but if you have an interesting subject and present it clearly it will get read.

Vortex Marketing Group has been working on setting up products, lead generation, backoffice, marketing, etc. for the last several months. I just received an email asking me to confirm my position in the company. There are currently 27,000 affiliates signed up and almost 200 new affiliates are signing up every day. The goal is to have 50,000 when the company launches as an MLM.

A Great Opportunity Just Got Better

As you are aware, I am a Plug-In Profit Site (PIPS) affiliate. The affiliates exchange ideas and information on the Warrior Forum. Occaisionally someone will post a concern that if a prospective member removes the affiliate ID from the link the page shown would be for Stone Evan's downline. Another Co-Op Disappears

So we have had another scam artist among us. Somewhat discouraging, but live and learn. Dwayne Freeman of Fountain Colorado offered guaranteed signups (affiliates) for SFI at a cost of $20 for 10 affiliates. The first person to sign up for this offer gave good reports of the delivery and quality of the affiliates. This enticed others to also sign up. Dwayne made assurances that he would update the status page so everyone would know where their order was.

Well guess what. No one has heard from Dwayne for the last 3 weeks. It appears he has taken the money and run. Which prompted me to make the following post on the Warrior Forum:

So here's the way it works -

1. Make a post in the forum that you have been testing a lead generation system and it is working great. You want to help out your fellow PIPSters and offer to provid them leads at a nominal cost. You explain how the amount paid barely covers the cost generating the leads.

2. Take orders and take money.

3. Provide a couple of names as signups, wether they are real or just ones you make up. Hotmail accounts are cheap.

4. Post in the forum that due to the high volume that you need to replace your server(s). The added expense will require you time to accomplish this. Say that once this is done the leads will be flowing. And don't forget to offer more leads at the nominal cost. There will surely be people still willing to buy.

5. Post in the forum that the server upgrade is complete. You are testing but expect the leads to start coming out in a few days. And don't forget to offer more leads at the nominal cost. There will surely be people still willing to buy.

6. Disappear for a while.

7. When you return post in the forum that you/mom/dog have been seriously ill but that you/mom/dog are recovering and you will be able to return to work shortly. Don't forget to offer more leads at the nominal cost. There will surely be people still willing to buy.

8. Once it appears that you have emptied this well just disappear for good.

9. Find another program/forum to repeat this plan.

Sad, but true. Even those who you have contact with on a regular basis, albeit through a forum, may not be trust worthy. Face to face can be hard enough to detect the lies, but the web makes it even more difficult. Once again, make sure you know who you are dealing with before you pay your money.

Be Careful Who You Link To

You have probably heard that one of the ways to improve the page rank (PR) of your site is through links. One way links from sites with a high PR is best, but reciprocal links from related sites is also good.

Looking up related sites and sending link exchange invitations is pretty time consuming. But there are services you can sign up for that allow you to look for, and make requests to, several potential link partners a day. I have signed up for a few of these services, one of which is Link Market.

When I started out I was the one making the requests. But now I have a better PR I get many more requests from others than I make. Part of the problem with this is that as a free member of linkmarket I have no control over what types of sites can request link exchanges with me.

I get several a week from online casinos. Besides not being related to my home business site, I am leery of the integrity of these sites.

Another type of site I get requests from are moving company brokers. I have always turned down these requests, again, because they have nothing to do with work at home businesses.

But yesterday I heard a consumer alert about these types of sites. It seems that many of them use unlicensed and unbonded movers. They often pick up your stuff and upon arrival at your new home tell you that the price they quoted was short and that if you don't pay thousands more in cash they won't unload your stuff. It's worse than being robbed because you invited them in. You can read more here.

These guys are a black mark on all internet marketers so be careful when dealing with them. And if I have a link to their site, even though I make no endorsement, it negatively affects the perception of my integrity. There are probably legitimate moving brokers out there so if you plan on using one make sure to do your homework.

We Have Lost A True Friend

Sad news today out of California that internet marketing guru Corey Rudl was killed in a auto racing accident on thursday at California Speedway in Fontana. Corey and the driver of the car were both killed in the accident that occured during a club day event. You can read more here.

Corey was the founder and president of the Internet Marketing Center and Secrets To Their Success.

Tributes are pouring in, a testament to the 34 year old who is described as driven, bright, articulate, honest and hardworking. In today's internet marketing world where fast buck artists try to seperate us from our hard earned money, Corey provided great products and great service. This is truely a sad day for the online marketing world.
